It's a new chapter for Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital as Kate Liddington takes over the leadership of the private hospital.
Kate’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the hospital, as she brings a wealth of experience across both the NHS and the private healthcare sector.
SoGlos finds out more about what her new role means for patients and her vision for the hospital's future.
Congratulations on your new role. What is your background?
Most recently I have served as executive director at the Ridgeway Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, where I contributed to significant growth of the hospital and private services provided.
I led the way in innovation, collaboration and patient-centred care, these are values that I now bring to Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital.
What do you particularly value professionally in hospital care?
I understand the importance of high quality patient pathways, as well as quality improvement and operational excellence.
What is your vision for the evolution of Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital?
My vision is clear and that is to redefine what exceptional healthcare looks like in the modern era.
Under my direction, the hospital will continue to embrace cutting-edge technologies, expand services and deliver outstanding care in a compassionate and forward-thinking environment.
What is your main ambition?
All aspects of my vision combine to aim to achieve one of our main ambitions which is to provide the best care and support you can get anywhere.
How is healthcare changing?
Healthcare is evolving rapidly and so are the expectations of our patients.
At Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital, we’re committed to ensuring that innovation and personalised care go hand-in-hand, ensuring our community live healthier, happier lives.
What does the future hold?
As part of Nuffield Health’s not-for-profit mission, Cheltenham Hospital continues to invest in both people and technology.
This ranges from state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities to pioneering surgical techniques, such as the robotic assisted knee replacement and holistic wellbeing services.
Modern technology allows for a more accurate diagnosis through improved technologies and better personalised treatments.
A good example is robotic surgery which improves precision, reduces side effects and offers faster and more efficient care.
Lots of processes becoming automated result in fewer errors.
What can you promise patients?
My appointment reflects Nuffield Health’s ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, innovation and community wellbeing.
This ensures Cheltenham remains at the forefront of modern, patient-focused healthcare.
What does this new role mean to you?
It’s a privilege to take on this role and join a hospital with such a strong reputation for care and compassion.
For me, being hospital director is about empowering our teams to do their best, supporting clinicians to deliver exceptional outcomes and ensuring every patient feels truly cared for.
I’m genuinely excited to be part of Cheltenham’s future and to help shape the next chapter of our journey.
