Startups will receive access to resources, such as support around AI innovations, product development and go-to-market strategies through the partnership, in order to accelerate market readiness in the sector.

Innovation and growth company Plexal is offering security-focused startups in Gloucestershire access to the latest AI tools and resources from Google Cloud, with a view to boosting national security and resilience.

The company, which has an office in Cheltenham, is partnering with Google to provide dedicated support for security-focused startups, driving faster adoption of UK-grown tech solutions.

The partnership seeks to help startups overcome the challenges faced when getting their products to market, which Plexal's senior director of go-to-market, Dave Rowley, says poses a problem for UK resilience.

He explains: 'The challenge that startups face is a fragmented market, complex procurement and limited access to end users.

'Navigating defence and national security requirements and building trust with decision-makers takes time – time many early-stage companies can’t afford.

'This slows innovation adoption and ultimately puts UK resilience at risk'.

The partnership will look to build a community of 'security innovators' that are working to solve complex problems at a local, national and global level, hosting events in Cheltenham and London over the next six months, at which 'doors will be opened' to those selected for programme participation.

Benefits for the chosen founders will include a dedicated package of Google Cloud credits, enabling them to cost-effectively experiment, build and scale their businesses; learning resources including hands-on labs, exclusive workshops, access to Google Cloud experts and live in-depth classes to help them build with the latest generative AI solutions, including Gemini; access to a dedicated startup success manager; and discounts on Google products.

Dave added: 'Our partnership with Google Cloud brings the scale, reach and credibility startups need.

'Plexal provides deep sector access, delivery experience and a proven track record in dual-use innovation.

'Together, we can accelerate market readiness, unlock routes to deployment and drive faster adoption of UK-grown solutions that strengthen our national security.'

Darren Mowry, vice president of global startups at Google Cloud, said: 'Plexal is already helping startups at all stages of growth access Google Cloud’s technologies and support network.

'This includes our latest models like Gemini 2.5, our AI-optimized infrastructure, important mentorship, go-to-market support, and more. By working with partners like Plexal, we can help more security-focused startups innovate with AI and get products to market more quickly.'
