As guests wait to hear who will walk away winners from the inaugural SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards 2021 they will be in for another treat – courtesy of artisan ice cream and sorbet maker Fluffy Puffin.

The husband and wife-run business will be on hand to ensure guests at the showcase event, due to take place at Weston Aviation’s hangar at Gloucestershire Airport, are given the chance to enjoy some classic and more unusual dessert creations.

To give you a flavour of what to expect, think award-winning company using dairy produce from local farms flavoured with in-season fruit from British producers – and the finest chocolate from around the world.

For Chris Wooldridge, who runs the Fluffy Puffin with his wife, Jessica, being able to share their wares again after the challenges of the pandemic will be a pleasure in itself.

‘For us, it is a chance to showcase what we do. We are really looking forward to it and are already enjoying getting out and meeting people again.

‘As for all businesses the pandemic was a challenge. We were able to do some restricted numbers – 30-person events in June – then it went crazy in July.

‘To work a big event again will be brilliant.’

Fluffy Puffin customers include wedding parties, private and corporate functions of all shapes and sizes, with the business able to provide a classic tricycle, ice cream bar or its showpiece bar.

It will even indulge clients by creating completely bespoke flavours.

The SGGBA event has been made possible by a host of brilliant Gloucestershire sponsors, including headline co-sponsors GFirst LEP and The Growth Hub.

Its launch has struck a chord with the county’s business community, and judges had the challenging task of picking the winners from 421 nominations in 17 categories – as well as a special award for Outstanding Contribution to Business in Gloucestershire.

Winners will be revealed at the anticipated event itself on Thursday 9 September 2021.
