Encouraging Christmas shoppers to support local businesses, Gloucester City Council is offering free parking in two of its key car parks this December 2025.
Shoppers can park for free at Kings Walk car park and Eastgate Shopping Centre on Friday 19, Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 December 2025 – with both car parks staying open until the shopping centres close at 7pm.
This is the second time Gloucester City Council has offered free parking this festive season, after allowing shoppers to park for free in some council-owned car parks on Small Business Saturday earlier in December.
According to the council, many retailers rely on festive footfall, with this offer aiming to support businesses in the city centre and boost trade during the Christmas period.
Deputy leader at Gloucester City Council and cabinet member for performance and resources, councillor Declan Wilson, said: 'Our city centre is the beating heart of Gloucester so it’s important that we do everything we can to support it.
'While we know that many people will do some of their shopping online I would urge shoppers to also shop local if they can. Nothing beats local friendly service especially at Christmas and every pound spent keeps our city a thriving and vibrant place to live, work and visit.'
