The city of Gloucester proves to be a thriving centre for graduate opportunities, coming out in the top two overall.

A new study in graduate outcomes ranks cities across the UK on a range of different categories, from average salaries to the number of entry-level positions available — and Gloucester came out as one of the best.

Coming in just behind Coventry, Gloucester is identified as the second-best for opportunities for graduates, with the rest of the top five being made up of Stoke-on-Trent, Leicester and Birmingham.

Gloucester had one of the highest overall scores in the study conducted by QR Code Generator, after analysing the average rent cost, in which the city's total was £727 per month for a one-bed flat or studio; the average salary, with the Gloucestershire city coming in with a £28,904 average; and the number of entry-level jobs found on indeed at the time of the study was 28.

The estimated monthly costs per person was also assessed in the study, with Gloucester averaging at £812.

The remainder of the the top 10 features Portsmouth, Derby, Bradford, Lancaster and Hull, with Birmingham being found to have the highest rent but the highest average salary, while Leicester had the most entry-level positions available.

This research comes after the news broke of the University of Gloucestershire climbing an impressive 22 places to number 90 out of 134 ranked in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, with Hartpury University also ranking number six for teaching quality, proving that the county stands out for education and employment opportunities in the UK.
