Hawkstone, the brewery owned by TV presenter — and now Cotswold farmer — Jeremy Clarkson, has topped The Sunday Times' list of the fastest growing private companies in the south west, revealed as part of its annual 100 rankings.
The Clarkson's Farm star launched his brewery in 2021, using spring barley from his farm near Chipping Norton to make his own lager.
Since then, the brand has grown exponentially, expanding into more than 1,500 pubs across the UK — including Jeremy's own pub in Asthall, The Farmer's Dog — and launching in UK supermarkets including Waitrose and Sainsbury's.
It also runs tours and tasting events from its brewery on the edge of Bourton-on-the-Water.
The Sunday Times' fourth annual ranking, published online on Friday 27 June 2025, recognises Britain's 100 fastest growing private companies, excluding those which sell their own technology.
Among the eight businesses from the south west featured in this year's list, Hawkstone is the only company based in Gloucestershire — and ranks 23rd out of 100 in the overall league table.
Up one place from last year, Hawkstone, which employs 35 people, has almost tripled its sales to £21.3 million in the year to March 2025.
Reporting an impressive 134 per cent annual sales growth in the last three years, it's also heads and shoulders above of the south west's second fastest growing company, St Ewe Free Range Eggs in Cornwall, which achieved 87 per cent growth for the same period.
