Dubbed an 'era-defining' tournament, there's just under 100 days to go until the Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 kicks off in Sunderland — with a selection of stadiums across the UK playing host to the championship for the first time.
A record-breaking 300,000 tickets have already been sold, with a further wave of sales expected as new seats were released in May 2025, and anticipation builds further with the brand-new trophy setting off on a tour of the country to bring fans closer to a piece of global sports history.
Being revealed for the first time at London's Battersea Power Station, the trophy is being put into touch at all eight of the nationwide host locations, including Brighton and Hove, Exeter, London, Manchester, Northampton, Sunderland, York and — the closest Gloucestershire rugby fanatics can get — Bristol.
Crafted in sterling silver and plated with 24-carat gold, the trophy is 'a modern expression of excellence and ambition', combining history and future by retaining the classic twin handles of the original prize while introducing a new oval silhouette as a nod to the ball, as well as engravings of the names of past champions on its base to acknowledge those who have shaped the game to become what it is today.
World Rugby's chief of Women's Rugby, Sally Horrox, said: 'This trophy represents far more than a tournament; it reflects a movement. A movement fuelled by passion, shaped by trailblazers and driven by the next generation of women and girls stepping into the game around the world.
'Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 is set to redefine what’s possible in women’s sport. The new trophy is a worthy emblem of the incredible athletes who will compete in England and of the legacy we are building together with our partners, starting with the RFU and through programmes like Impact Beyond 2025.'
Visiting Bristol's Millennium Square on Friday 23 May from 12pm until 6pm, Gloucestershire residents can hop across the the river to catch a selfie with the new trophy or head down to College Green on Saturday 24 May 2025 from 12pm until 3pm for an afternoon of celebrations with the Bristol Bears team.
While the final match will be played at London's iconic Twickenham Stadium, the thrilling Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 semi-final matches are taking place at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol — bringing all the action closer to south west rugby fans for the first time.
Tickets are available now for the full schedule of the tournament on the Rugby World Cup website.
