BBC documentary series Reported Missing is featuring Gloucestershire Constabulary police teams on its search for two missing people from the county.

The episode, airing on Wednesday 19 August 2020, follows Gloucestershire Police as they search for two elderly residents, named Sheila and John, who both have dementia.

Sheila went missing in Gloucester while out shopping with her husband of 50 years. John disappeared from his home in Gloucestershire, after his wife had gone out for lunch.

Annual reports of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gloucestershire estimate that 2,000 people go missing in the county each year, with many ‘missing episodes’ linked to mental health issues, putting a significant strain on police resources.

This episode of Reported Missing follows detectives, police officers and search and rescue specialists at Gloucestershire Constabulary, as well as the missing people’s families and friends, as they search for their loved ones – promising a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look into how Gloucestershire’s police force operates.
