The school revealed its brand new music building this week with some famous faces.

Featuring an impressive music studio, practice rooms and a range of state-of-the-art music classrooms, Balcarras School has funded the new building with the help of a donation from Superdry co-founder, Julian Dunkerton.

Mr Dunkerton began supporting the school when he was asked to judge a design competition, where he noted Balcarras was ‘very forward looking, with the whole school having a very positive feeling about it.’

Speaking to SoGlos about the Music School, Julian said: ‘We really wanted the school to have a great music department and I feel very proud to help put all that together and make it a reality. I think it’s going to have a significant effect on generations to come.’

With Balcarras now boasting facilities that ‘rival private schools’, Julian added: ‘it’s about giving a state school the chance to prove that with decent funding, it can do great things.’
