Having only opened its doors in 2018, The Barn Theatre has certainly made its mark on both Cirencester and the wider theatre community.

The former Nissen hut has been shortlisted for an award in The Stage Awards 2019, hoping to win the title of Fringe Theatre of the year.

The Barn Theatre is up against Omnibus Theatre in London and Vault Festival in London and will be judged on its artistic quality, business success and innovation.

Jamie Chapman Dixon is The Barn Theatre’s producer, and told SoGlos: ‘to be nominated for this amazing award means the world to everyone within our team.

‘We would be nothing without all the performers, creatives, volunteers and supporters that have worked alongside us in the past 12 months. The nomination means the world to us and to win would be a huge bucket list tick for us all.’

It’s been a busy year for the theatre, which opened in March 2018 with The Secret Garden, followed by an in-house production of One Minute, a comedy in the form of The Hound of The Baskervilles and is currently hosting musical Just So which runs into the new year.
