Jack Stein, son of celebrity chef Rick Stein, is heading up a new on-course restaurant at Cheltenham Festival in 2026.

Bringing the 'celebrated Cornish hospitality of the Stein family to jump racing's most prestigious event', Cheltenham Racecourse has announced a brand-new on-course restaurant is opening for Cheltenham Festival 2026.

Headed up by Jack Stein, son of celebrity chef Rick Stein and chef director at the Rick Stein Restaurant Group, new restaurant Stein's at Cheltenham will replace Core on Course, which has served guests at the event since 2023.

Located on the top floor of the triple deck structure overlooking the track, Stein's at Cheltenham will showcase 'high-quality Cornish ingredients prepared exceptionally well, with a global twist', with ocean-inspired interior design by Rick's wife and Jack's mother, Jill Stein.

Giving racegoers a chance to try some of the signature dishes from the world-famous Padstow seafood restaurant, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the restaurant's menu will be created by Jack and father Rick.

Jack said: 'Rick has been coming to Cheltenham for years and whenever we’re here, people always talk to us about the restaurant – it just feels like a natural fit. I first discovered my love of jump racing at university; in fact, I won enough on Best Mate’s third Gold Cup to buy myself a brand-new BMX!

'The produce we get in Cornwall is amongst the best in the world and I’m thrilled to be bringing our restaurant to Cheltenham. Racegoers can expect top-quality food, traditional Cornish flavours and genuine Cornish hospitality.

'We don’t take ourselves too seriously, we want it to be a lively, buzzy dining room where everyone can relax, enjoy themselves and hopefully have a lucky day on the horses!

'I can’t wait to be at the heart of the action, supporting the anticipation and adrenalin, with a Cornish haven and making sure racegoers have a really amazing time.'

Cheltenham Racecourse CEO, Guy Lavender, added: 'We are delighted to be welcoming Stein's at Cheltenham to next year’s festival. The festival already offers an exceptional hospitality experience and this new addition will really complement our existing hospitality offering.

'Jack’s warmth, creativity and outstanding cooking will be hugely popular and we are excited to showcase the iconic Stein brand in the Cotswolds for the first time next March.'

The new restaurant announcement follows a swathe of other off-track improvements planned for Cheltenham Festival 2026, including reducing daily capacity from 68,500 to 66,000 to improve customer experience; lifting drinks restrictions in the Club Enclosure; the launch of a new covered food court; reducing the price of draught beer and cider – including Guinness – from £7.80 to £7.50; and serving prosecco for the first time.

Cheltenham Racecourse is also bringing back Ladies Day for the first time since 2019, with Wednesday at the festival dedicated to the 'growing number of female racegoers', with Style Awards, live music and fashion tips from style ambassador, model and TV presenter, Rosie Tapner.

Ticket prices for the Cheltenham Festival 2026 are also being held at 2024 rates, with Early Bird tickets available from £47 until Thursday 4 December 2025 via the Cheltenham Racecourse website.
