Five Valleys Shopping Centre in Stroud has revealed its brand-new outdoor events space, just in time for summer.

Created as part of its ongoing multi-million-pound makeover, the colourful courtyard, complete with picnic benches and beanbags, officially opened to the public on Friday 19 May 2023 — and the centre has just announced it will be hosting a programme of summer events starting this May bank holiday weekend.

With street food pop-ups, music and a bubble machine in the courtyard, visitors can grab retro ice creams from the House of Piri Popscycle, which is in residence all weekend; tuck into tasty homemade cakes and brownies from Bake It Eat It on Saturday 27; while on Sunday 28 there's waffles from OMG Delicious on the menu.

Ideal for half term, it's hosting a kid's keepy-uppy football challenge on Saturday 3 June 2023 with family meals, tickets to Stroud Bowl and a trophy to be won.

The centre also hopes to have live music from local performers, free children's events, cookery demonstrations and even fashion shows throughout the summer, with the new courtyard being open until 8pm on Fridays, when the Five Valleys Night Market takes place, too.

Five Valleys centre manager, Jack Simpson, said: 'We launched the new events space over the weekend and the feedback was great from both shoppers and our retailers.

'We can’t wait to share the full events diary with you, which will be launching on our brand-new website this week.

'We have an ice cream vendor taking some space soon and we are hoping to secure a wine/cocktail bar to take some space throughout the year. I am interested to hear from any other small businesses who wish to take advantage of the space and footfall here.'
