The county's first-ever adapted padel lead has been appointed at Gloucestershire Tennis, with the new role designed to champion
the growth of inclusive padel in the area.
Representing a major step forward, the new initiative contributes to the LTA’s national Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Plan for 2025 to 2029, which is committed to making padel accessible for everyone.
Bringing a rich background in able-bodied and disability sport, along with passion and personal commitment, Emma Aldred-Tow brings a wealth of lived experience to the role.
She represented
Gloucestershire in junior and senior county tennis throughout her youth and into her
twenties — and after acquiring a disability, Emma transitioned into wheelchair tennis, building a successful competitive career that included multiple national titles
In her new position, Emma will lead the development of a countywide adapted padel programme for adults and young people with physical, sensory, cognitive and mental health disabilities.
This will include taster days, disability-specific coaching and inclusive social sessions – all
designed to make padel accessible, welcoming and empowering for every participant.
Emma said: 'This is an exciting time for adapted padel in Gloucestershire.
'I’m proud to be
part of this new chapter and looking forward to building meaningful opportunities in
partnership with local disability groups – so that everyone, whatever their needs, can
experience the joy of padel, whether it’s their first time on court or they’re ready to go
further.'
