Making Woodchester Park more accessible for all, the National Trust has unveiled a new, even pathway at the site near Stroud.
A new zigzag path joins Woodchester Park with Tinkley Gate, replacing the old steep and uneven path with a smooth, even surface for better accessibility and an improved visitor experience.
The work has been completed over the winter and spring to create a more accessible connection between the facilities at Tinkley Gate and Woodchester Park's historic landscape, while still remaining in keeping with the natural surroundings.
Improvements include new rest points, gentler gradients and sustainable surfaces which improve walking conditions in all weathers, replacing existing sections which became inaccessible during wet winter weather, meaning that Tinkley Gate remains accessible all-year-round.
Work finished just in time for May half term and Woodchester Park's busy schedule of events coming up this summer, including everything from outdoor theatre to trail runs.
Visitor operations and experience manager for the National Trust's Cotswolds countryside portfolio, Max Biddlestone, said: 'The new path work opening at Woodchester Park is a momentous occasion for not just the site but for all our local communities who use this space.
'We’ve listened to feedback from our visitors and are committed to removing as many barriers to access as possible, ensuring everyone can benefit from the both the natural environment and the fantastic events we have on offer across the spring and summer period.'
