SoGlos has once again been recognised among the UK’s most innovative digital publishers and is in the finals for Regional Website of the Year in the 2025 Future of Media Awards — for the second consecutive year.
After a rigorous judging phase involving 28 media industry experts, the results have been revealed by Press Gazette on Thursday 10 July 2025.
Press Gazette editor-in-chief and chairman of the judges Dominic Ponsford said: 'This year we received more than 200 entries from publishers at the cutting edge of digital journalism in Britain, the US and around the world.'
The shortlist celebrates media brands leading the way in journalism and innovation across the UK — with SoGlos up against four finalists in the Regional Website of the Year category including Kent Online; Belfast Telegraph; Ipswich.co.uk; and The Moonraker.
Launched in 2007 by two journalists, in 18 years SoGlos has evolved into a modern, trusted and sustainable model — combining quality journalism with cutting-edge technology to inform, champion and transform local communities — now reaching an audience of 1.6 million a month across its website, newsletters and social channels.
In a significant year of growth and innovation, 2025 has seen new investment across content, tech and commercial operations.
SoGlos’s editorial strategy has sharpened its focus on positive (not promotional) impactful local content. With a new Community section launched, alongside its first Lifestyle and Community Awards, all while upholding journalistic excellence as its ‘north star’.
Its proprietary tech platform, SoCMS, has also developed into a powerful 360-degree business management system, enhancing efficiencies across the publishing ecosystem.
With a diversified suite of advertising services and strategic marketing investment helping SoGlos achieve its 18th consecutive year of commercial success, despite some well-documented tough trading conditions for small businesses.
Michelle Fyrne, SoPublishing's CEO, said: ‘We’re incredibly proud SoGlos has been shortlisted for this national accolade once again. It’s a real testament to the passion and creativity of our small but mighty team — and to the loyal readers and partners who continue to support independent local media.’
The winners of the Future of Media Awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on Thursday 11 September 2025.
