One of Gloucester's most historic hidden gems, Llanthony Secunda Priory is a wedding and events venue set within the remains of a 12th-century priory in the city centre.
Llanthony Secunda Priory was once a large, influential Augustinian priory, founded outside Gloucester's city walls in 1136, and is now a scheduled monument with listed buildings that have played an important part in Gloucester’s history for over 900 years.
With stunning Grade I and Grade II-listed buildings and five acres of picturesque grounds, the unique venue offers both indoor and outdoor events spaces, perfect for weddings, exclusive hire, concerts, private celebrations and corporate events.
Handily located near Gloucester's historic docks, the bridal party can even arrive by boat on the neighbouring Gloucester & Sharpness Canal!
Inside, the priory offers two beautiful ceremony halls that lend themselves to wedding celebrations.
Grade I-listed Lady Margaret Hall provides an intimate, elegant atmosphere for up to 60 guests, with high ceilings, a timber roof, abundant natural light and full-length medieval windows all adding to its period charm.
While The Henry Dene Hall in the priory's Grade I-listed Tudor brick range dates back to the 16th century and offers a grand yet versatile space, accommodating up to 100 seated guests.
The largest and most flexible of the spaces available at the venue, The Henry Dene Hall has high ceilings, natural daylight and enough dance floor space to welcome 140 guests for an evening reception.
Outdoors, the venue's Medieval Courtyard Garden and Tithe Barn are also licenced for civil ceremonies and celebrations, within its five acres of glorious grounds.
Two of the medieval buildings within the grounds have been painstakingly restored, alongside spacious grassy lawns, beautiful veteran trees, a cattle pond and a well-maintained herb garden, looked after by a team of dedicated volunteers.
Llanthony's prime city centre location allows for access to many suppliers, car parks, accommodation and transport options, all set within a tranquil haven with some of the most photogenic wedding spots in Gloucestershire.
For wedding bookings, each couple is assigned a dedicated wedding coordinator, with venue staff on the day, each hall fully furnished and decorated to your requirements, the use of fairy lights, uplighters and a fully licenced bar.
