The owner of Gloucester Carpet Outlet has been awarded a special medal for his generous work for charity.

Daniel Leach received the Gloucester Mayor’s Medal to recognise his contribution to the local community in a ceremony held at the city council offices in February 2022.

In December 2021, he helped to organise a winter wonderland-themed event at Gloucester Carpet Outlet, in aid of Gloucester Heart for Heroes. The event, which he funded, raised thousands of pounds for local children with heart problems.

Mayor of Gloucester, Councillor Collette Finnegan, said: ‘I’m over the moon to recognise Leach for his dedication and service to our community. It is people like him who make Gloucester the wonderful place that it is. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to him on behalf of our great city.’

Leach said: ‘This medal means a lot to me and receiving it was a very proud moment. This medal is not just for me either, it’s for the team, as by working together we have been able to help others which is very important to us.’

Leach was supported by his business partner, Ben Byron, who helped create the popular Winter Wonderland. Gloucester Carpet Outlet is hoping the first fundraiser of its kind will become an annual event.
