As the nation adapted to the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic, the value of community fitness groups like This Mum Runs became even more important, with record numbers of women joining.

As it worked to ensure it delivered for everyone who signed up to its running communities, it also had to find a way of supporting its staff and its hundreds of volunteers.

The Bristol-headquartered business, started in November 2014 by Mel Bound, found what it needed at Stonehouse-based online training specialist Nimble Elearning.

Jo Lee, chief operating officer, said: ‘This Mum Runs now supports 150,000 women across 60 communities in the UK to take some time for themselves, become more active and feel part of an awesome community of women.

‘We welcome anyone who identifies as female. We have 500 volunteers and eight team members at headquarters who support these women to go out for weekly organised runs in their local community and who motivate and support them through our online Facebook communities.’

She added: ‘TMR (This Mum Runs) uses Nimble to train its tribe of volunteers. We are not talking about health and safety training or GDPR training, we train our volunteers on the ethos of TMR and the emotional connection that our runners feel with everything that we do.

‘It also shows them how to nurture that connection and support women that otherwise may be inactive.

‘I contacted Nimble as I had used some large elearning platforms before that just weren’t flexible or bespoke enough for what we need at This Mum Runs – Nimble most certainly were.

‘From regular touch-bases to brilliant hints and tips – the team at Nimble are one of the key elements that stands out. We have a flexible billing plan that works for us, bespoke content that we can create in a simple and intuitive way and someone on the end of a phone for chat when we need them.

‘Our ambition for 2022 and beyond is to support a million women to become more active and take time for themself. This will include training another 250 volunteers this year.’
