New seafood bar and grill restaurant to open in Cirencester

One-time favourite Cirencester restaurant Harry Hares is due to reopen in May 2022 under new management as Henry’s Seafood Bar & Grill.

Harry Hares restaurant, the one-time Cirencester favourite that closed its doors in the early 2000s, is to reopen as Henry’s Seafood Bar & Grill.

Gloucestershire business Notorious Plates, which also runs the Waterside Kitchen and Bar on the Cerney Lakes and The Crown at Cerney Wick, is behind the plans.

News surfaced of a new restaurant at the end of March 2022 with talk it would open on April 19, but the business has now revealed it will be a May opening and create 30 jobs.

Tom Holland, the manager of the new restaurant, said: ‘Henry’s will be a modern British-led restaurant with a heavy seafood influence.

‘Staff are joining us from across the country, including hospitality experts from London and Cornwall.

‘The raw bar will have oysters, caviar, Newlyn lobsters and delicious St Ives’ crab.

‘We have dry aging salt fridges being installed for beef which is sourced from local farms and delivered through our supplier, this will include Red Ruby Devon, Herefords and Aberdeen Angus as well as some British Wagyu.

‘Bread will be baked every morning and we are going to do our own charcuterie inhouse.

‘We can’t wait to open and we will have a great selection of champagnes, wines and beers for guests to try.’

The Gosditch Street restaurant and pub has undergone a complete makeover with modern art now a feature throughout, plus new furniture, including oak dining tables made by local tradesmen. Work on the garden has also begun.
