Pro Global in Gloucester has launched a new recruitment drive which emphasises training and career-long opportunities in one of the UK insurance sector’s fastest-growing businesses.

A global business with a major base in Gloucester and offices in the USA, Europe and Latin America – and which serves some of the UK’s biggest insurance firms – has announced a Gloucestershire recruitment drive.

Pro Global, whose biggest UK office overlooks Gloucester Docks, is seeking to recruit graduates and apprentices to its diverse team as it manages its own ongoing growth and that of its clients.

The business handles some of the most unusual, challenging and interesting work in the insurance industry, helping grow companies that require specialist solutions for complex risks – including sector giants like Lloyd’s of London.

Alison Borley, talent manager for Pro Global, said: ‘We are not a call centre. We do not deal with things like motor insurance. It could be footballers’ legs, celebrity jewellery, stud horses, catastrophic claims, cargo and cruise ships, hurricane damage, cyber threats and even satellites.

‘We look after and look to improve things for clients to help them grow.’

In a competitive jobs market, Pro Global is emphasising its career progression, personal development, holiday, pension, life assurance and healthcare benefits and its hybrid working policy – though the firm also has UK offices in London, Glasgow, Horsham and Liverpool.

Patrick Francis-Lang, head of group human resources at Pro Global, said: ‘Times change and we now need to tell our story so people can realise the opportunities we can offer.

‘We have grown and now have about 650 staff across the globe and about 500 here in the UK.

‘In Gloucester, over the last two years we have created something like 120 new roles, taking us from 200 people to 350.

‘Gloucester is our biggest hub. It is the engine room of the business and an exciting place to work because so much is going on. No two days are the same.’

The firm had 20 apprentices start in 2021, including trainees and graduates, and is looking for the same number again for 2022.

Borley said: ‘These can be business administration, data technicians or insurance practitioners. You will need GCSE Level 4 English and Maths and possibly A-Levels, depending. For graduates we can help them work towards the Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma and other professional qualifications.

‘But when we are recruiting it is about attitude. We can provide the training.’

Verity Hunter, senior recruitment consultant at Pro Global, said: ‘Graduates will work in various parts of the business to start with to see where they might be best-suited.

‘There are so many ways for people to progress here.’

Francis-Lang added: ‘You join Pro Global for a career rather than a job. We work hard to be transparent about possible career paths and pay so people can see how they can progress with both.

‘In some companies labour is a cost. Here they create our revenue. Our people are literally our assets.’
