Cementing its reputation as one of the UK’s leading tennis and padel venues, Cheltenham’s East Glos Club has been named Club of the Year at the prestigious LTA Awards 2026.

The national award was announced at the National Tennis Centre on Thursday 16 April 2026, with East Glos selected as the overall winner from more than 300 nominations across the UK.

Run by the Lawn Tennis Association, the annual awards celebrate the individuals and venues making a significant impact on tennis and padel nationwide – recognising everything from grassroots participation to elite performance and community engagement.

East Glos was shortlisted for its outstanding growth, innovation and contribution to the local community, particularly its role in developing tennis and padel across Gloucestershire.

Club manager Darren Morris and club president John King said: ‘We’re honoured to receive the award on behalf of all the members, volunteers, committees, staff and coaches of East Glos. Being selected as the national winner from over 300 nominations highlights what an amazing club we have. So proud.’

The Cheltenham-based club, located on Old Bath Road, has seen significant expansion in recent years – including new padel courts, growing membership and an increasingly inclusive programme of activities designed to make racket sports accessible to all.

Its community-focused approach has included initiatives such as walking tennis, wheelchair tennis and partnerships with local schools, alongside hosting county and national competitions.

As well as taking home the top national title, East Glos was also named as a finalist in the Protect Where We Play Award, recognising its commitment to sustainability and aiming to reach net zero.

The national recognition follows a strong showing at county level earlier in 2026, where East Glos was also named Club of the Year for Gloucestershire, alongside a series of individual and sustainability awards.

The latest accolade reinforces East Glos Club’s position not only as a sporting hub for Cheltenham and the wider county, but as a leading example of how modern clubs can combine performance, participation and community impact at scale.
