Cheltenham-based Holiday Architects is reassuring customers that the costs of their holiday won't go up after they book due to fuel shortages – pledging to absorb all fuel surcharges imposed by airlines, permanently.
The company, which creates tailor-made holidays to a host of destinations around the world, first made the pledge in May 2026 for any holidays booked before the end of June, while air fares soared as a knock-on effect of the US-Iran war.
That reassurance for customers proved popular as the war continued, leading the company to extend the offer until the end of August. But as of this week, it has removed the deadline permanently, meaning every holiday booked with Holiday Architects is protected against any airline fuel surcharge added after booking – 'for good'.
Andy Hunt, founder of Holiday Architects, said: 'Back in June, we put our money where our mouth is, and travellers kept telling us how much that reassurance mattered to them. So we've decided a deadline was the wrong way to think about this.
'This was never meant to be a short-term promotion; it was always about reassurance, and now that reassurance is ongoing. Book with us whenever you're ready, and if your airline adds a fuel surcharge afterwards, we'll cover it. No dates, no catch.'
The company is also reassuring customers that significant disruption to long-haul leisure travel remains limited, despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East, with many of the destinations it sells 'operating entirely as normal'.
It hopes the Fuel Surcharge Guarantee will deter would-be travellers from holding off on booking, with Hunt saying the offer 'reflects our confidence in the resilience of travel'.
He added: 'The world can feel uncertain at times, but people still want to travel, and in our view, they should feel confident in doing so'.
And he says the recent use of surcharges by airlines is a practical example of the advantages of booking through a specialist tour operator, rather than going it alone, with a team of experienced people on-hand to provide on-going support.
