Stroud artisan bakery Salt Bakehouse is opening its new headquarters this September 2026, bringing tasty bakes and coffee to a new location in the town centre.
Renowned for its delicious bread and pastries, the much-loved bakery has served customers from its kiosk in Stroud, at markets, and out in the community from its branded white vans in recent years – now, it's all set to open its new premises on Slad Road on Wednesday 2 September 2026.
The new bakery will serve Salt's impressive sweet pastries – a range of croissants, Danishes, claws, twists and cruffins – while its menu is growing to include savoury options like pizza and sandwiches, with the aim of eventually offering a full cafe menu.
With indoor and outdoor seating available in its stylishly renovated space, customers can eat in while enjoying a hot drink, too, with the bakehouse branching out into coffee for the first time – sourced from Thrupp-based Noni's Coffee Roasters.
And of course, customers will also be able to pick up loaves of its famous bread, with everything from classic sourdoughs, to special seasonal breads made in a variety of flavours, like wild garlic; nettle and red onion; roast potato and rosemary; and walnut and dark ale loaves.
In preparation for its full launch, the bakery has welcomed customers for a few soft openings over the summer, but from next week, it'll be open every Wednesday to Saturday, from 8am till 2pm, until Christmas, when the team will 'take a short break to reassess'.
