Gloucester Food Dock is getting a brand-new pasta restaurant, as the founders of Bella Mia Pizza open their second restaurant right next door.
Taking over unit No. 2, which was occupied by Strip Steak Bar until it closed in June 2026, Casa di Filomena promises 'affordable, independent Italian neighbourhood dining specialising in creative, handmade pasta using regional produce'.
Run by the team behind the Food Dock's popular pizza restaurant, diners can expect a seasonal menu which combines locally sourced ingredients and specialist imports from Italy, served in a warm, rustic dining room which feels reminiscent of a traditional Italian neighbourhood trattoria.
Sharing the deeply personal inspiration behind the new restaurant, co-founder Jamie Di Crescienzo said: 'I’m so proud to name this after my grandmother, Filomena, who made the journey from Naples to England after the Second World War.
'Through food, she gave us a reason to gather, to talk, to celebrate and to spend time together, and it’s that sense of generosity and togetherness that Casa Di Filomena hopes to bring to every table and every customer.'
Casa di Filomena's other co-founder, Jake O'Malley, added: 'After seeing how much people have embraced our authentic wood-fired pizzas at Bella Mia, we knew the Food Dock in Gloucester was the perfect home for our next chapter.
'We cannot wait for customers to experience true Italian hospitality, freshly cooked dishes served within a friendly and relaxed neighbourhood setting, something which the dining brands can never replicate.'
The fit-out is already underway, though the official opening date is yet to be revealed. SoGlos will share more information as it becomes available.
