Gloucester Cathedral throughout the Christmas season

Gloucester Cathedral is open every day in December 2020, inviting visitors to enjoy a heart-warming Christmas experience. Each visiting group will be given an illustrated Christmas card, which includes a prayer and information about this year’s online services, as well as a tealight candle to light from home when joining one of the carol services.

Carols will be played or sung in the cathedral during opening hours, while visitors will also enjoy the chance to follow the Christmas Family Trail, running until Wednesday 7 January 2021, learn about the Christmas story and meet the characters by finding the miniature displays.

The live-sized Knitivity, meanwhile, is a particular highlight for 2020, situated in the north transept and featuring all of the popular characters in knitted form – as well as some special guests.

Until Thursday 24 December 2020, enjoy Gloucester Cathedral’s new Digital Advent Calendar, which each day will include a short video from the choir, clergy, community partners and local charities – each giving an insight into some of the people who make Gloucester Cathedral the beacon of hope that it is.
