The Wilson is Cheltenham’s renowned art gallery and museum; home to fine art spanning the ages and continents, high profile touring exhibitions and special events across four floors.
Taking its name from Cheltenham’s famous Antarctic explorer, Edward Wilson, the venue underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment and reopened in 2013, now proving more popular than ever with art lovers, schoolchildren and families from across the country.
Visitors can feast their eyes upon everything from iconic sculptures and innovative arts and crafts, to prize-winning photographs and cutting edge, contemporary pieces – with entry being free for most exhibitions.
Meanwhile the in-house learning team provides inspiring workshops for children, and The Wilson Café serves up an ever-changing menu of breakfasts, lunches and snacks, made using fresh, local produce.
Cheltenham Tourist Information Centre can be found on the ground floor of The Wilson, where locals and out-of-towners alike can discover a wealth of information about the Regency town, as well as browse and buy from a range of maps, books and gifts.
