If January is synonymous with fresh starts and improving lives, there’s no better time to look into fostering with Gloucestershire County Council – with one of its in-person information sessions.
When and where is Gloucestershire County Council Fostering's next information session?
For anyone curious to find out what it takes to become a foster carer, its next drop-in ‘introduction to fostering’ session is taking place at Dobbies Garden Centre in Tewkesbury on Tuesday 13 January 2026 between 10am and 3pm.
What to expect from Gloucestershire County Council Fostering information sessions
The council is on a mission to find loving and nurturing foster homes in the area for local children of all ages – babies and toddlers included.
The information session gives potential foster carers the chance to have an informal chat about everything from the application process to payments, with a current foster carer on hand to answer any questions participants might have – so attendees can find out about the different kinds of fostering; what you need to be able to foster; as well as the support and training on offer, should you decide to pursue an application.
While participants are under no obligation to take the next steps until they are ready to, those with experience of looking after children could be eligible for fast-track assessments.
Who is eligible to become a foster carer in Gloucestershire?
The likelihood is that most people are eligible to become a foster carer.
Fostering is open to those aged 21 and above, whether single or in a relationship; in employment – or not; homeowner or otherwise.
