Affordable spa experiences at Cowley Manor near Cheltenham

The iconic Cotswold hotel, Cowley Manor, reopened last year with its award-winning C-Side Spa completely refurbished to include a 15-metre outdoor pool; 17-metre slate-lined indoor pool; four treatment rooms; gym; steam room; sauna; relaxation area; and nail bar — and with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto 55 acres of serene Cotswold countryside. This venue really does offer the ultimate in relaxation. 

Located in the sleepy village of Cowley just outside Cheltenham, the Grade II listed hotel offers four different spa packages, including C-Side Recharge which gives guests full access to the spa from 11am to 3pm for £100. Or for £150 per person, the Half Day Spa package includes a 60-minute treatment, a two-course lunch and full spa access. Or for night owls, £115 gets you access to the spa from 5pm to 8.30pm with a 30-minute treatment and £40 towards dinner.

Affordable spa experiences at Hatherley Manor near Gloucester

Hatherley Manor’s beautiful Cotswold-inspired spa offers an excellent range of experiences and has many awards under its belt, including a five-star rating in the Good Spa Guide.

The affordable Evening Spa and Dine experience is available on weekdays from 6pm to 8.30pm, where guests can enjoy an antipasti sharing platter; spa access; robe hire; and flip flops to take home for just £51.70 per person — with the option to upgrade and include a glass of prosecco when booking online. Meanwhile, the Twilight Supper Spa costs £104.50 per person and includes a 25-minute treatment; robe hire; flip flops; an antipasti sharing platter; and a glass of fizz, available Sunday to Thursday from 3pm to 7pm. 

Affordable spa experiences at Calcot & Spa in Tetbury

Calcot's luxurious Cotswold spa is nestled in tranquil Tetbury and boasts a unique outdoor fireside hot tub and an extensive list of treatments and packages.

Choose from a more affordable Mini Evening Spa session at £105 for a 25-minute treatment of your choice and full access to the venue's spa facilities for the evening; or spoil yourself by upgrading to the Evening Spa for £135, which also includes supper at the Conservatory restaurant. Day spa experiences start at £175 for a half-day.

Affordable spa experiences at Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham

Gloucestershire’s five-star Ellenborough Park hotel offers an opulent spa with a sauna, steam room, hot tub, treatment rooms and one of the best heated outdoor pools in the UK, plus it's new spa garden retreat that can be booked for exclusive use.

Guests can experience a morning or afternoon of relaxation with its half-day experiences starting at £95, including a 25-minute treatment and full access to the indoor and outdoor spa facilities, with fluffy robes, slippers, coffee and cookies included. Or spend just a touch more and book the Cosy Sanctuary package for £135, available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, which includes a 55-minute treatment, full access to the facilities and a glass of prosecco. The spa garden retreat can also booked for a half-day for £140 and includes a 25-minute treatment, a cocktail and use of the outdoor spa and indoor facilities.

Affordable spa experiences at The Greenway Hotel in Shurdington

Boasting a tranquil spa surrounded by gorgeous countryside, the Elan Spa at the Greenway Hotel has recently undergone a massive makeover, with £1.4 million spent on renovation to the hotel and spa facilities. The spa is now home to an outdoor vitality pool and hot tub, as well as revamped treatment rooms and a partnership with British skincare brand, Temple Spa.

Guests can enjoy a half day spa experience with a 55-minute treatment of their choice; two-hour's use of the spa facilities including the hydrotherapy pool, thermal retreat, hot tub and gym; with either a bento board lunch or afternoon tea for £135 per person from Monday to Thursday, or £155 per person from Friday to Sunday. 

Affordable spa experiences at The Lygon Arms in Broadway

This popular spa is an oasis of calm just over the border in Worcestershire. Surrounded by idyllic Cotswold countryside, The Lygon Arms spa offers a few pampering packages that won't break the bank.

Tranquili-Tea is the most affordable at £74 per person and includes a luxurious poolside afternoon tea and full use of the spa facilities, with a robe and slippers, of course. Or splash out a touch further by opting for the Sunrise Spa Experience or the Twilight Spa Evening for £110 per person, which both include a 45-minute treatment; full spa access; robes, towels and slippers; and a complimentary drink.

Affordable spa experiences at Whatley Manor in Malmesbury

Offering indulgent spa days in its five bubble-rated spa, a trip to Whatley Manor, just over the border but less than five miles from the beautiful Westonbirt Arboretum, should probably be saved for a special occasion, but there are still a couple of deals available for bargain hunting spa seekers!

Benefitting from indoor and outdoor pools with massage jets; thermal cabins; experience showers; a steam grotto; heated stone recliners; and a tepidarium, Whatley Manor offers a Twilight Spa Retreat experience for £125 per person that includes full use of the spa facilities and £50 towards a leisurely dinner in Grey's restaurant. Also available for £165 per person is the half day Gaia Spa experience, consisting of a 60-minute treatment, a smoothie and of course, full use of the spa's incredible facilities. 

Affordable spa experiences at Doubletree by Hilton in Cheltenham

Cheltenham's Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Charlton Kings is home to a relaxing spa offering a whole range of very affordable treatments and spa packages.

Its Step Into Summer Monday to Thursday package costs from £60, while the weekend version cost from £70 and includes a 25-minute treatment, a spa lunch and use of the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. It also offers an Essential Spa Day from £86, which includes two 25-minute treatments, as well as full access to the facilities and afternoon tea, or the full-day Relax and Restore package for £95, which includes a 55-minute facial and then all the usual spa access with afternoon tea, too.

Affordable spa experiences at Stratton House Hotel & Spa in Cirencester

Located on the outskirts of Cirencester, Stratton House's Spa in the Garden is an award-winning spa that has a five-star rating in the Good Spa Guide. And with a full menu of very affordable spa experiences, this is one venue that will leave you fully relaxed with no remorse over the final bill.

Spa days start at £69 per person for either the Tea Time, Me Time escape or £75 for the Evening Sunset package, with both offering a 25-minute treatment and use of the spa facilities. The evening option also includes a glass of prosecco — and for more of a splurge, the Garden Retreat offers one 50-minute treatments, use of the spa for two hours, £10 towards a skincare purchase and a light lunch for £120. Spa facility use is also available for just £40 in the evenings or £45 in the daytime, with a glass of prosecco or a cocktail thrown in, too.

Affordable spa experiences at Burleigh Court Hotel in Stroud

A Grade II-listed manor house in the Stroud countryside, this tranquil hotel is a hidden gem and has also just opened a brand-new wellness garden complete with a Nordic sauna and an outdoor hot tub with glorious views of the Golden Valley.

While, historically, treatments at Burleigh Court have only been enjoyed from the comfort of guests' own rooms, the Wellness Garden, which opens fully in July 2024, is open to non-residents too and was actually designed with locals in mind. The new spa garden will feature a treatment hut offering hot stone, aromatherapy and deep tissue massages, alongside the new Nordic sauna, outdoor hot tub and its restored 100-year-old plunge pool. Non-residents can enjoy the wellness garden if they book in for a massage in the treatment hut or spend a minimum of £20 per person in the restaurant, with families also welcome Sundays to Thursdays.
