AAT Level 4 Professional Accounting Taxation Technician at Gloucestershire College

Designed to train existing accountants who are working for accountancy firms or within finance departments of other types of organisations, to technician level, this apprenticeship typically takes 18 to 24 months to complete. 

With core areas of study following the analysis of financial statements of ltd companies; management accounting: decision and control; personal tax or credit management; and business tax or cash and treasury management, the qualification can lead to a specialist role in accounting, and learners can also progress on to a higher education course in a subject related to accounting, banking, insurance or other financial services.

Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager at Gloucestershire College

Aimed at experienced middle managers who are looking to develop strategic skills, this qualification supports those inputting to strategic planning, creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, and more. 

Taking place over 21 months, plus three months for end-point assessment, the apprenticeship covers core areas including project management, finance, leading people, communication, self-awareness, decision-making, taking responsibility and professionalism. 

Level 5 HR Consultant at Gloucestershire College 

Suitable for HR Professionals working in roles such as HR business partner or HR consultant, learners will use their HR experience to provide and lead the delivery of HR solutions to business challenges, together with tailored advice to the business in a number of HR areas.

Over the duration of 18 months, plus three months end-point assessment, the apprenticeship focuses on HR consultancy, developing and delivering HR solutions; HR policies and procedures; leading the HR contribution to business change and business projects; leading the improvement of people within the organisation; researching, analysing and presenting HR business data; and more. 

Level 4 Marketing Executive at Gloucestershire College

This apprenticeship allows learners discover how to shape, support and deliver marketing plans, by researching, developing, promoting and distributing products or services through effective channels to engage with a range of target audiences. This role requires creativity, communication and project management skills — with individuals responsible for planning and executing tactical and targeted marketing activity. 

Taking place across 17 months, plus five months end-point assessment, training is delivered in the workplace — this is complemented by remote delivery where applicable.

Engineering

Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician (General Engineering) at Gloucestershire College

The engineering manufacturing technician apprenticeship is curated to provide specialist technical support for engineers, so that organisations can develop, produce or test new and existing products, processes or procedures, to meet quality, cost and delivery requirements, as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Ideal for engineers with 12 months or more experience, as well as for those who finished Level 3 apprenticeship or a similar full-time course and looking to advance their skills and knowledge, training is delivered over a 42-month period, plus a six month end-point assessment. 

Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) at Gloucestershire College

Similar to the general engineering apprenticeship mentioned above, the broad purpose of this occupation is to provide specialist technical support for engineers — but in a more niche area — involving mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical and fluid power components/systems.

The same as the general engineering apprenticeship, this course is ideal for engineers with 12 months or more experience, as well as for those who finished Level 3 apprenticeship or a similar full-time course and looking to advance their skills and knowledge, training is delivered over a 42-month period, plus a six month end-point assessment. 

Level 6 Embedded Electronic Systems Design at Gloucestershire College

This apprenticeship is suitable for an engineer who applies their knowledge of electronics and embedded software to the design of circuits or devices that provide a useful function; that are capable of being manufactured at a competitive cost; and that are reliable and safe. 

Taking place over 60 months, plus three months for end-point assessment, the apprenticeship involves part-time study, with the first three years at Gloucestershire College Cheltenham Campus, with the remaining two years at UWE Bristol.

IT, Cyber, Software and Digital

Level 6 Cyber Security Degree (provsionally NCSC Certified) at Gloucestershire College

This apprenticeship is suitable for a cyber security technical professional operating in business or technology/engineering functions across a range of sectors including critical national infrastructure — such as energy, transport, water, finance, public and private, large and small. Plus, Gloucestershire College is the only FE college in England to have its Level 6 Cyber Security apprenticeship provisionally certified by National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), part of GCHQ.

With a duration of 41 months, plus six months end-point assessment, this course offers learners the chance to achieve an honours degree from UWE Bristol; develop skills that will increase your career potential; gain support from industry experienced staff; and be recognised for entry to the Institute of Information Security Professionals membership at associate level. 

Level 4 DevOps Engineer at Gloucestershire College

With this apprenticeship taking 24 months to complete, plus four months end-point assessment, the DevOps Engineer requires the individual to understand and appreciate how their code functions when being used in the real world and troubleshoot any issues that may arise, while taking a cloud infrastructure-focused perspective.

Core areas of study follow: scripting and coding in domain specific languages, using pair/mob programming techniques; knowledge sharing and collaboration; building a CI/CD pipeline using automation tooling and often APIs; promoting a DevOps Culture — using agile principles to build and run; applying a Secure SDLC; and more. 

Level 4 Software Tester at Gloucestershire College

A great route to build the skills, knowledge and behaviours required of a software tester who can ensure that software is operating as intended, by the end of this apprenticeship, learners will be able to design and prepare test plans, conduct software testing and document and report on the results. They will also have a good understanding of the software lifecycle and software development practices.

This course takes up to 24 months complete, with training delivered in college and at Quanta, as well as the workplace.
