There’s nothing like a good old sing-song to get you into the festive mood, with a host of traditional carols and seasonal choral pieces taking place at stunning venues across the county this year.

1. Carols on the Hour at Gloucester Cathedral

Gloucester Cathedral will be filled with beautiful Christmas music at its special Carols on the Hour event. The free family-friendly event takes place on Saturday 11 December 2021, with guests encouraged to arrive early for the service they’d like to attend to guarantee entry.


2. Carols at The Fairview Gardener

Wrap up warm and join in with feel-good festive sing-a-longs at The Fairview Gardener near Gloucester, hosting its community carol service amongst the Christmas trees on Friday 10 December 2021 at 7pm.


3. Christmas concert at Berkeley Castle

Orchestra Pro Anima will perform a Christmassy concert at Berkeley Castle on Sunday 12 December 2021, spreading seasonal magic with festive music in a majestic setting. Not to mention, there’s complimentary mince pies and wine for that extra Christmas sparkle, too.


4. Carols at Pittville Pump Room

There’s carols and Christmas songs at Pittville Pump Room all the way to Christmas Eve, with a host of choirs and bands to get everyone in the festive spirit – including Christmas music from Beauregard Youth Choir on Monday 20, Thursday 23 and Friday 24 December 2021.


5. Carols at Tewkesbury Abbey

With singing from Tewkesbury Abbey Choir, the magnificent Tewkesbury Abbey will host its Christmas carol service on Sunday 19 December 2021 at 6pm, with plans to livestream the performance via YouTube for those who can’t make it.


6. Christmas concert at Cheltenham Town Hall

Cheltenham Town Hall is welcoming back its Christmas Cracker Extravaganza for another year, with music from The Cheltenham Bach Choir, joined by the award-winning Flowers Brass Band and the young voices of the Beauregard Singers, on Tuesday 21 December 2021 at 7.30pm.


7. Carols at Saul Junction

For a unique canalside carolling experience, revellers can belt out Christmas songs on the water at Saul Junction, accompanied by the Frampton Silver Band, on Saturday 11 December 2021 at 6pm. Carollers are invited to come by boat or car and there’ll be mulled wine and mince pies to enjoy, too.


8. Carols at One Church Gloucester

Families can get involved with crafts, carols and Christmas markets at One Church Gloucester on Sunday 19 December 2021. Hear contemporary takes on some traditional carols at one of four services, each followed by an hour of Christmas activities, refreshments and even the chance to meet Father Christmas. Best of all, tickets are free!


9. Carols at St Barnabas, Gloucester

Hear the Christmas story through readings, carols and anthems at St Barnabas, Gloucester’s Christmas carol service on Sunday 19 December 2021 at 6.30pm. For anyone who can’t attend in-person, the service is also being live streamed.


10. Carols at St Laurence Parish Church in Stroud

Join the Stroud Choral Society for its Christmas concert, taking place on Friday 17 December 2021 at 7.30pm at the stunning St Laurence Parish Church. There will be traditional Christmas carols for everyone to sing and some festive readings, promising a night of fun and seasonal celebrations.
