COALHOUSE Brew & Que in Cheltenham
Founded by chef-restaurateur Lewis Spencer and co-owned by Jay Rahman of JM Socials, COALHOUSE Brew & Que opened at the former Mayflower site on Clarence Street – focussing on locally sourced smoked meats, independent brews and live-fire cooking.
Diners can indulge in a menu which celebrates bold, smoky flavours with stacked burgers and barbecue plates using meats from local Toddington butcher Martins Meats.
The Coffee Cauldron in Cheltenham
Cheltenham welcomed a brand-new addition to its rich coffee shop scene this month, with The Coffee Cauldron opening its doors on the Rotunda in Montpellier.
Aiming to 'bridge the gap' and make its coffee shop experience as 'inclusive' and 'accessible' as possible, coffee fanatics can expect speciality brews from its standout purple La Marzocco espresso machine, with everything from bold americanos to trendy iced matcha lattes – and pooches can join too.
Roots Allotments near Gloucester
Encouraging all ages and experiences to try their hand at sustainable growing, Roots Allotments launched its latest 'no-dig' venture at Bentham Fields, near to Brockworth.
Offering patches from mini to group allotments, Roots provides an outdoor spot for people to slow down, get their hands in the soil and reconnect with nature, food and each other. Each membership includes access to the tool shed – stocked with hoes, dibbers, rakes, spades, wheelbarrows and more – wellness workshops, over 25 seed packets and varieties of plug plants, talks from experts, long table feasts and much more.
Loft & Spires in Cheltenham
Loft & Spires launched its first Gloucestershire store in October, offering Cheltenham shoppers the chance to browse for thoughtful gifts, home decor to elevate your space or fashion and jewellery with character and flair.
Located opposite The Beefy Boys on Regent Street, the family-run business – originating from Bury St Edmunds – champions a diverse range of independent UK creators, from local artisans to carefully sourced international brands.
Proud Gloucester
A new bar dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community opened in Gloucester, making it the first time in ten years that the city will be home to a dedicated LGBTQ+ space.
Situated in Kings Square, Proud Gloucester is a multi-purpose space which includes a coffee shop, pizza cafe and evening bar that is open until late seven days a week, with live entertainment at the weekend.
The Three Horseshoes in Frampton-on-Severn
A much-loved village pub in Frampton-on-Severn has reopened after being brought back under family ownership, with 29-year-old Redford Hogben purchasing The Three Horseshoes as his first independent business.
Once owned by Red's grandfather, Ron, from 1978 until 1987, the pub has been a village favourite for more than 150 years, even becoming an official Asset of Community Value (ACV) in October 2024, after a community-led application was approved by Stroud District Council.
Accessible path in the Cotswold Lakes
A 1.2km accessible path launched in Cotswold Lakes in October, with facilities including free parking, toilets, cafe and restaurant.
A collaborative project between Cotswold Lakes Trust, Cotswold Canals Trust and De Vere Cotswold Water Park, the path is designed to empower wheelchair users, families with buggies and those who need level terrain to enjoy the stunning wetland landscape, linking the trail along Lake 6 with the Thames and Severn Canal.
Charlies in Cheltenham
