Home to some of the biggest names around, Barn on the Farm is renowned for hosting stars including Ed Sheeran, Bastille and George Ezra to name a few and this year is no exception, as Tom Grennan returns to headline the stage.

Quickly becoming a regular on BBC Radio 1, the singer-songwriter reveals to SoGlos a bit about the man behind the microphone, and what we can expect from his performance at this year’s festival.

How are you feeling about headlining Barn on the Farm festival this year?

This is my first time headlining a festival so I’m actually the most excited I’ve ever been, I’m not going to lie! Also, it’s the day after my debut album comes out so that makes it that extra bit special.

I played Barn on the Farm for the first time last year on the second stage so being asked to headline this year is crazy. It’s going to go off!

What’s it like hearing your songs on BBC Radio 1?

Hearing my songs on radio is always weird but at the same time, I love it. Ever since I started doing music, I’ve always dreamed of hearing my songs on the radio and for it to be happening is wicked and very humbling.

Will your performance at Barn on the Farm your first visit to the county?

This year will be my second time coming to Barn on the Farm and honestly, it’s a festival that I really, really love! Last year I remember the sun being out and everyone was just on a proper level, the energy was real.

Ed Sheeran, George Ezra and Bastille have graced the stage at Barn on the Farm; how do you feel about following their footsteps?

I never imagined I’d be following in the footsteps of all of these great artists headlining, it’s incredible. Anyone could be following in the footsteps of these artists, it just so happens to be a boy from Bedford. I’m so ready for Barn on the Farm and like I said, I’m going to be putting on a show that won’t be forgotten.

Finally, what’s your inspiration behind your music?

My music is inspired by real life and storytelling. Stories are definitely a big part of my music. Amy Winehouse is an icon and has always inspired me, she made the realest music I’ve ever heard and it just takes me to different places.
