A new government-funded programme aimed at helping businesses make better use of digital technology has launched in the south west – with Gloucestershire businesses able to access expert support for free.
Covering everything from AI and cybersecurity, to digital marketing and tailored solutions, the Tech Adoption for Growth programme will provide sole traders and SMEs in Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire with practical advice on how to use digital technology to become 'more efficient, productive and profitable'.
Delivered by south west business support organisations, Business West and techSPARK, in partnership with the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (WECA) and funded by the UK Government, it's the second programme of its kind to run in the region – with its previous edition in 2024/25 supporting 115 businesses with tailored, in-depth consultant support; and welcoming more than 500 to its 17 workshops.
There are two routes of support available to businesses, with programme manager, Ben Masheder, explaining: 'The first will involve one-to-one consultancy with an experienced technology consultant who will provide tailored practical advice.
'The second will be expert-led peer group workshops, covering AI, cyber security, digital marketing, selling online and other key tech topics. The workshops will address real-world business challenges, while providing the opportunity to learn from other businesses and share your own knowledge.'
More than 100 south west businesses have already signed up to the programme, but spaces are still available.
Ben added: 'It’s a great opportunity for sole traders and SMEs in the south west to learn from leading experts how to get much more from technology, without having to pay consultancy fees.
'Gaining that knowledge could make a big difference in 2026 and beyond'.
Details of how to apply for Tech Adoption for Growth Support can be found on the Business West website.
