From attending a school event with Gloucester-based construction firm EG Carter in 2017 to now working alongside one of the company's seasoned project managers on the build of a new technology centre for a leading aerospace company, management apprentice Izzy Coopey made her junior school aspirations a reality.

Izzy first encountered EG Carter when she took part in a ground-breaking ceremony at Beaufort School in Tuffley now known as Holmleigh Park  where the company was carrying out a project to extend a reception area and build a new maths block along with other refurbishments.

Little did the team know that the experience had sparked Izzy's interest in construction, inspiring her to reach out to the firm for work experience in Year 12, from which she gained an invaluable insight into on-site operations and office work.

On completing her A levels, Izzy applied to the company's trainee management scheme, and it soon became clear she was an 'exceptional fit' for the role following an interview and trial week.

The firm says that today Izzy is testament to the success of the trainee scheme, working alongside a project manager to build a new technology centre for Safran Landing Systems in Cheltenham.

Izzy said: 'I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities EG Carter has provided me. From my first introduction to construction at Beaufort School to now working on-site, every step of this journey has been both rewarding and enlightening.

'I am excited to continue growing within the industry and making meaningful contributions to our projects.'

Joshua Carter, managing director of EG Carter, said: 'Izzy's dedication and passion for construction is truly inspiring. We are proud to have her as part of our team and are committed to supporting her as she continues to excel in her career.

'Her journey is a testament to the opportunities available within the construction industry for motivated individuals like Izzy.'
