Hot on the heels of SoGlos’s expansion into the B2B sector through the launch of its dedicated Business section, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the innovative new SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards for 2021.

The inspiration for the new SGGBA awards comes partly as a result of SoGlos’s hugely successful annual Gloucestershire Lifestyle Awards, which were launched in 2018 – but also for the need for a brand new, modern Gloucestershire Business Awards format, at a time when our business community emerges from one of the most challenging years in living memory.

SGGBA will recognise and celebrate a spectrum of county businesses: from innovative start-ups through the to the top 100 businesses, and is expected to firmly cement its position as Gloucestershire’s definitive business awards in its launch year – not least because of the support already shown by GFirst LEP and The Growth Hub, which have been confirmed as headline co-sponsors.

GFirst LEP’s vision is make Gloucestershire the best place to do business in England, and over the past 10 years it has been instrumental in developing plans and delivering projects to ensure government funding, and keep Gloucestershire’s economy growing. The Growth Hub is a county-wide network of business centres helping Gloucestershire businesses grow – with both sponsors fitting perfectly with the ethos of the new awards.

Nominations for SGGBA will open in March 2021, when businesses will be able to put themselves forward for one of 14 business award categories, from New Business, Most Innovative Business and Growth Business, to Family Business, Green Business and even Pivoting Business of the year – which has been specifically devised to recognise businesses which have adapted and thrived during the 2020 Coronavirus crisis.

A shortlist of entries will be judged by the exert panel – made up of a representative from each SoGlos, GFirst LEP, The Growth Hub and category sponsors – with around three entries from each category being taken through as finalists.

The first year of SGGBA will culminate in an exciting awards evening in October 2021, when sponsors, finalists and special guests will gather for a celebratory evening of networking, supper, drinks and the live reveal of the overall winners, subject to current government guidelines.

SoGlos co-founder, James Fyrne, commented: ‘The last year has been tougher than the Gloucestershire business community could ever have imagined, so we’re determined to help make 2021 the most positive year yet, and what better way than to celebrate the amazing success stories which fuel and inspire our local economy.’
