Cheltenham Town Football club has announced a new majority share owner, as businessman Mike Garlick joins the team.
The CEO of a successful global recruitment company for over 35 years, Mike, together with his wife Alison, joined the board of directors at League Two club Cheltenham Town at the end of August 2025.
Committed to investing in the club's facilities and making sure it recruits the best staff, Mike said: 'I am absolutely delighted to be joining Cheltenham Town Football Club and look forward to building on the hard work, dedication and excellent foundations that the current and past directors have put in place at the club.
'I met some of the board members back in May and visited the stadium and training ground. From that moment on I knew this was the club I wanted to be part of.
'Going forward, I believe firmly in evolution rather than revolution and, step-by-step, we will seek to drive the club forward both on and off the pitch, whilst remaining firmly rooted in our local community and loyal fan base.'
Mike was the chairman of Premier League team Burnley FC for 17 years and is also the owner of Gibraltar's St Joseph's FC and Spain's Antequera CF.
Commenting on the acquisition of Mike's controlling interest in Cheltenham Town, chairman David Bloxham said: 'For some time now Cheltenham Town has operated within limited financial and practical restraints.
'Whilst the club is generally regarded to have outperformed its resources, it has been a source of frustration that we have been unable to undertake significant improvements to facilities and infrastructure or retain our best staff.
'Mike Garlick brings with him a great deal of football knowledge and experience which I am confident will bring significant benefits and growth to our Club.'
