New head of customer care at Newland Homes, Matt Maddocks, says the firm's drive to be 'ahead of the curve' by transitioning homes to greener energy was what first attracted him to the role.

Gloucestershire housing developer Newland Homes has appointed two new senior staff members, adding expertise and support to its customer care and finance departments.

Matt Maddocks joins the Barnwood-based firm as head of customer care, with Helen Portman becoming its first ever finance manager, this July 2025.

A former site and area manager with national housebuilder Vistry Group, the company says Matt brings a combination of technical construction knowledge and a strong customer focus, making him 'ideally placed to spot potential issues early, resolve them quickly and give homeowners confidence in the service they receive'.

Matt said following his appointment: '[Newland Homes] struck me as a company that wanted to work proactively to identify what was best for the customer, not just the bottom line.

'I’ve been on a high ever since I joined. I’m proud to work for a housebuilder who puts the customer first.'

Bringing a strong background in the housebuilding sector, Helen will lead on 'maximising the potential' of the company’s COINS software system, as well as assisting with the production of accounts to 'ensure accurate financial records and informed decision making' in her new role.

Finance director Zoe White commented: 'Helen not only brings financial acumen but also a sharp commercial perspective and people skills that are vital in a dynamic and collaborative business like ours.'

Boasting turnover of £48.6 million for the last financial year – earning it a place in the SoGlos Top 100 Businesses in Gloucestershire 2025 – Newland Homes prides itself on its 'climate considerate' approach to housebuilding through developing zero carbon homes, with projects currently underway in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
