It walked away with the top honours at the SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards 2021 and now Gloucestershire construction firm, EG Carter & Co Ltd, has revealed one of the secrets to its ongoing success.

Despite a year in which its profile has reached new heights, the family firm shows no sign of abandoning its 20-year tradition of investing in its staff – taking on a record number of apprentices and management trainees.

This September 2021, it has welcomed nine new apprentices and management trainees – three carpentry apprentices and six management trainees.

Joshua Carter, director at EG Carter & Co Ltd, said: ‘We are excited to welcome the new starters to our company and industry.

‘This is a great milestone for EG Carter & Co Ltd and illustrates the strength of our forward order book and confidence in our long-established team to be able to provide the training and opportunities for our new apprentices and management trainees.’

The firm pledged to continue to attend and support career and employment fairs across Gloucestershire and give opportunity to school and university-leavers to become contract, project and site managers as well as senior surveyors.

The business has just fitted out Gloucester Rugby’s new training centre and is working on the £85m The Forum scheme transforming King’s Square.
