Wholly Gelato kicks off a month of seven new openings at Gloucester Food Dock

Fresh from the family farm in Elmore, Wholly Gelato is bringing a host of milky flavours to Gloucester Food Dock.

Hot on the heels of the hugely successful launch of Hop Kettle Tap Room, gelato, desserts and shakes from Wholly Gelato are next on the menu at the £3.5 million Gloucester Food Dock.

Opening at 9.30am on Saturday 4 November 2023, the new glass-walled ice cream parlour will offer a huge milk and gelato-based product range.

Alongside scoops and shakes, they'll be selling gelato and breakfast waffles, gelato buns, cakes and sundaes, smoothies, as well as hot and cold drinks.

They'll also have a brand new milk vending machine, stocked full of fresh free-range milk.

Will Lee, of Wholly Gelato’s Hobbs family, said: ‘As a small, family-run business with proud Gloucestershire roots, we’re all so thrilled to be launching our first Gelato Bar within Gloucester Food Dock.’

It's thought Bella Mia Pizza @ No.1 will be next to open with its pizza and cocktails on offer from early- to mid-November. Its 1920s Gatsby-inspired cocktail lounge is taking shape, featuring a reclaimed oak floor from the original set of the 1964 Mary Poppins film.

Co-owner Jake O'Malley said: 'We're really excited to be getting closer to our opening date, it's been a long time coming. We're loving creating a place where we know people will feel at home and have a great time.'

Much-anticipated late November openings include Strip Steak Bar which will bring premium quality Black Angus strip steak at affordable prices, in a fast-paced, casual dining setting with meals available to eat in or take away.

Elote, inspired by trips to the USA and Mexico, will offer traditional Mexican street food dishes to include elote corn, ceviche and pastor tacos in a cosy terracotta coloured space.

Chuck burgers, brunch and grab ‘n' go goodies at Hetty’s Place and Sibling Distillery's Our House cocktail bar are preparing to open towards the end of November 2023.

Talks are progressing on the remaining spaces, with all 14 units expected to be snapped up by January 2024. Once full, the development by Ladybellegate Estates is estimated to create 120 new jobs.
