An official ceremony has marked the start of work on Hartpury University and Hartpury College’s a new £5 million catering and conference venue for students, staff and businesses.
An all-Gloucestershire team – from architects to project lead and construction – is making the latest development at the north Gloucestershire site possible.
Architects are Gloucester-headquartered Roberts Limbrick, main contractor is Barnwood Group and project lead is Brockworth-based Vitruvius Management Services.
‘This is a key project that will bring us closer to delivering our wider strategic plan to support student growth at Hartpury with first-class facilities,’ said Russell Marchant, vice-chancellor and principal at Hartpury.
He was joined at a commemorative breaking ground ceremony on Wednesday 1 September 2021 by Mark Price, managing director of Vitruvius, and Ben Ramsay, managing director of Barnwood.
‘This will be a very impressive and modern facility; a sustainable step to future-proofing the built environment for Hartpury,’ said Mr Price.
Mr Ramsay said: ‘We are proud to have been selected as the main contractor. We’re looking forward to collaborating with the project team to deliver this amazing facility at Hartpury.’
Once complete, the college will have a two-storey, 2347 square metre sustainable building, which will include space for teaching, external seminars and conferences, with a bar and cafe to support social and dining events.
