A series of accessible performances of the Everyman Theatre’s pantomime, Cinderella, have been launched for the festive season, enabling more people to make the most of their trip to the Cheltenham theatre.
Designed to benefit those who are hard of hearing, visually impaired or individuals with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, as well as anyone with learning disabilities, pre-school children and people with dementia.
An audio-described performance is set to take place on Thursday 5 December 2019, including a touch tour of the set, props and costumes one hour before the show starts to enrich the theatre-going experience for the visually-impaired.
A British Sign Language interpreted performance of the pantomime will take place on Saturday 4 January 2020, when an interpreter will stand at the side of the stage and translates the dialogue into sign language for the hard of hearing.
With two relaxed performances taking place on Wednesday 8 January 2020, which are designed to reduce the anxiety of theatregoing, and have been adapted for those with learning difficulties, autism, dementia or young children. Lights are not completely dimmed, loud noises are softened, audience noise levels can be louder than normal, and audience members are free to leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time during the performance. There will also be a chill out room for these performances.
