Gloucestershire’s most courageous food lovers can discover a daring dining experience, tucking in to lunch or dinner while suspended on a cliffside ledge in the Wye Valley, near the village of Woodcroft in the Forest of Dean.

Brand-new for 2021, the unique experience is the latest venture from Stroud-based mountain skills company, Rise and Summit, giving locals the chance to enjoy lunch on a ledge or a sunset dinner with unobstructed views of the River Wye at Wintour’s Leap.

From an unforgettable family meal to adventurous date nights, the experience is suitable for up to four people – with brave diners suspended on a hanging tent known as a portaledge, and served three courses from seasonal lunch and dinner menus.

The menus are ever-changing, but example evening dishes include a selection of tapas to start; main courses like tagliatelle a la Bolognese or a veggie-friendly sausage and spicy bean hot pot; with New York cheesecake or a decadent chocolate mousse for dessert. With the option of a sandwich platter for lunch.

Guests are also welcome to bring a bottle of fizz or tipple of their choice to enjoy as they dine in style, taking in the gorgeous Wye Valley views from the clifftop.

With no age limit or climbing experience required, this all-year round experience is suitable for everyone – although under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note, all booked experiences will be able to take place once government restrictions are lifted.
