SoGlos has launched a new business section on Monday 21 September 2020 – dedicated to showcasing newsworthy stories from across the county’s diverse business community, in SoGlos’s own accessible style.

Targeted at senior-level management and ambitious business owners, the new Gloucestershire business section will provide handpicked business news and expert insights – spanning sectors including technology, IT, legal, financial, manufacturing, property and construction – from dynamic start-ups to Gloucestershire’s top 100 firms.

This latest development sees SoGlos continue to strengthen its position as Gloucestershire’s leading media brand – expanding its editorial remit to cover all aspects of living in and working in the county.

While SoGlos has become a household name in Gloucestershire since its launch by two journalists more than 13 years ago, this latest development has been spurred on by the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, as co-founder, James Fyrne, explains:

‘In the week the crisis hit, we quickly turned our attention to spreading hope and positivity throughout the county, celebrating the inspiring stories which emerged from individuals, charities and, of course, businesses.

‘From leading Gloucestershire brands Kohler Mira, ProCook, SLG and Superdry making generous NHS donations, to Phil Vickery launching a new food collection service and Willans LLP solicitors reaching a £20,000 charity fundraising milestone, unprecedented reader numbers showed there was a huge appetite for business-focused stories in the county.

‘As a large majority of SoGlos readers live and work in the area, it made complete sense that they were also interested in county business news – cementing our instinct that there’s a real gap in the market for a Gloucestershire-focused business platform, powered by high quality content and delivered in the most direct way – online.’

Written by SoGlos’s in-house team of experienced journalists, the new Gloucestershire business section will include topical news, insights from local business experts, engaging hot lists, modern videos and previews of upcoming industry events – supported by a carefully selected directory.

It will also be strengthened by a dedicated LinkedIn page – already with more than 1,000 followers – as well as a weekly business newsletter launching this autumn.

‘We’re excited about this expansion, which comes at a time when Gloucestershire businesses need to be supported, celebrated and showcased more than ever, and hope the county’s business community will come together in helping to make the new platform a great success,’ James Fyrne added.
