Gloucestershire elderly care charity, Lilian Faithfull Care, is inviting schools, community groups and families to send Christmas messages to the elderly residents living in its care homes in Cheltenham and Stroud, this Christmas 2020.

After taking part in the national ‘Postcards of Kindness’ initiative during lockdown, the Gloucestershire charity is putting a festive spin on the scheme and asking for Christmas cards, pictures, letters and even video messages.

Residents will have the chance to read the cards and letters as part of their activity schedule. With schools are also encouraged to send videos of plays and songs for residents to enjoy.

The charity hopes the idea will help keep residents feeling connected to the community during the Christmas period.

Lilian Faithfull Care marketing and fundraising manager, Kelly Richardson, said: ‘At the beginning of this year we had lots of local Stroud schools writing to our residents at our Resthaven Nursing Home… We received lovely letters, cards and pictures and it was wonderful for our residents to read and chat about when they were at school.’

Cards, letters and pictures can be sent by post to Lilian Faithfull Care homes, care of the activity co-ordinator, while videos can be sent by email.
