Cotswold Sculpture Park is offering Gloucestershire art enthusiasts a chance to see a painter at work, as its new artist in residence takes her spot on selected dates throughout its 2022 season.

Land and seascape painter, Adele Riley, is at the unique outdoor gallery on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 June; Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July; Sunday 21 and Monday 22 August; and Friday 23 and Saturday 24 September 2022.

Alongside her solo exhibition, which is on display at Cotswold Sculpture Park until it closes for the season on Friday 30 September 2022, Riley will also be painting sections of the park to add to her collection.

Fascinated by light and colour, Riley enjoys working outdoors in wild surroundings, such as the woodlands at Cotswold Sculpture Park, painting intuitively to try and capture the light, sound and feel of each location – using wax, pencils, knives and thick layers of paint to create texture.

Describing her creative process, Riley said: ‘Usually working in acrylic and acrylic inks,
each painting begins with a loose idea of what I want to create.

‘It’s essentially about the emotional content of the piece that I strive to capture; this is done by letting the inks create a type of chaos, they do what they naturally want to do.

‘This is an exciting part of the process as it always reveals something magical,
letting me know what I should do or how I should react next.’

Her colourful, nature-inspired paintings are also available to buy at Cotswold Sculpture Park, with pieces ranging in price from £265 up to £1,295.
