With twinkling lights and a magical atmosphere, visitors are invited to step inside Gloucester Cathedral after dark this December 2022, when the beautiful, historic building is all lit up for Christmas.
Taking place on Friday 9; Saturday 10; Wednesday 14; Monday 19; Tuesday 20; and Wednesday 21 December 2022, these exclusive, ticketed events give visitors the chance to admire the cathedral's spectacular Christmas lights and decorations, while enjoying live performances from the cathedral's musicians, as well as giving people a rare chance to explore the atmospheric cathedral at night, taking in its famous cloisters, spectacular quire and imposing nave, lit by twinkling festive lights.
New for 2022, there's also the option to upgrade to a VIP experience to include a tour of the Tower or the Cathedral Library, too. 60-minute Tower tours allow visitors to admire incredible views over the city at night; while the 30-minute Library tours will see visitors climb the winding spiral staircase to explore a part of the cathedral which is usually hidden, with the beautiful medieval room lit by candlelight. There's also a chance to discover its fascinating history through four books in the collection - including a special Christmas-themed item.
Both tours include a mince pie and a hot drink, too.
Promising to be one of the county's most unmissable festive events, tickets to Gloucester Cathedral's Christmas Experience at Night must be pre-booked online and cost £5 per adult and £3 per child aged five to 16. The cathedral will be open from 6.30pm until 9.30pm, with last entry at 8.45pm.
Tickets including a VIP Tower tour cost £20 per adult and £10 per child; while tickets including a VIP Candlelit Library Tour cost £12 per adult and £6 per child.
