Optimum's new networking event for Cheltenham businesses
Accountancy and law firm, Optimum, is introducing its free networking events to businesses in Cheltenham, hosting the first at its offices on Chosen View Road on Tuesday 7 March 2023.
The firm already runs monthly networking breakfasts at its Swindon headquarters which regularly attract 40 to 50 businesses, and it's hoping to repeat this in Cheltenham.
Due to take place from 9am to 10.30am, the event is free, but booking is required via Eventbrite - with tea, coffee and pastries on offer, too.

International Women's Day networking event
Become an honorary WiTCH for the day at this special networking event aimed at 'embracing equity' and billed as an empowering celebration of women.
WiTCH refers to the Women in Tech and Cyber Hub group from Cheltenham, a group for women and their allies from the world of technology and cyber security, who exist to break down bias and barriers by building a community based on support, inclusion and collaboration.
The group has teamed up with pioneering software firm Savient, cyber networking visionaries CyNam, Sopra Steria, Gemba Advantage, Infosec People and others for the event, which takes place at Cheltenham's Pittville Pump Room on Wednesday 8 March 2023 from 2.30pm to 8pm.
A beginner's guide to net zero strategy
What exactly is net zero and what does it mean for businesses and organisations in Gloucestershire? Experts including St James’s Place Wealth Management; Claire Walmsley-Moss from CWM Marketing; and the county-based business support group, The Growth Hub, will be on hand to explain all.
In partnership with Farm491, the team has created a beginner’s guide to net zero for all county firms, to help with jargon-busting, applying simple strategies, telling your company's story and giving you the confidence and know-how to get started in your journey towards net zero carbon.

Production Futures' ON TOUR roadshow
The University of Gloucestershire is hosting Production Futures' ON TOUR roadshow, which aims to help provide the next generation of talent with opportunities to meet world-leading experts and develop careers in production across every area of the live event, music, theatre, television, broadcast and film industries.
Taking place at the university’s School of Creative Industries at Cheltenham's Park Campus on Wednesday 8 March 2023, the event boasts ‘world-leading experts and brand partners’, including manufacturers Sennheiser, Avolites, ChamSys, Chauvet Professional, Shure, NEXO, disguise, Brompton Technology, TAIT, Roe Visual, Riedel Communications and Vectorworks, as well as a number of leading production companies, too.
As well as university students, the event is open to local further education colleges and other pre-university pupils who wish to explore careers in the rapidly growing production industry, as part of the school’s outreach programme. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.
Apprenticeship open evening at Gloucestershire College
Gloucestershire College is holding an open evening for prospective apprentices, with many of the county’s top employers present and ready to recruit.
The college is an award-winning provider of apprenticeships across 17 industries, including construction, dental, catering, hairdressing and teaching, to roles in the increasingly important field of cyber security and computing.
40 companies are expected to be in attendance, along with lecturers and former and current apprentices, to answer questions at the free event on Wednesday 22 March 2023 from 5pm to 8pm at its Gloucester Campus on Llanthony Road, beside the docks.
The Gloucestershire Business Show
The Gloucestershire Business Show is back at Cheltenham Town Hall from Tuesday 21 to Wednesday 22 March 2023, for a festival of business and innovation.
The two-day business exhibition first took place at Cheltenham Racecourse in 2015 before moving to its current venue.
Kicking off with a Gloucestershire Chamber of Commerce networking breakfast, the event also features talks on localising procurement from Together Gloucestershire; driving innovation in the creative sector; an environment and climate forum; diversity and neurodiversity in leadership and teams; as well as providing a chance for local businesses to network and connect.
Cheltenham BID networking event at Eat Sleep Axe
Cheltenham businesses can combine networking with axe-throwing (we kid you not), at Cheltenham BID’s next networking session this month.
Taking place on Thursday 23 March 2023, the event at the town’s urban axe throwing centre Eat Sleep Axe on Winchcombe Street, gives attendees the chance to network with BID members while learning how to hurl a real axe – just for the thrill of it!
The event is due to take place from 3pm to 4pm. Tickets are free for Cheltenham BID levy payers and £20 for non-levy paying businesses.
Tring Networking event for Gloucestershire businesses
The first of what promises to be a series of events staged by and for businesses in Gloucestershire is taking place on Thursday 30 March 2023 at Gloucester Brewery's Warehouse 4 tap room at Gloucester Docks.
The Tring Networking event is an emerging co-operative of county businesspeople who are coming together to share their expert advice and support, as well as get to know each other. Firms involved so far include Elmrep, Abbey Business Interiors, HR People Support, Action Coach, Marsh Commercial, WSP Solicitors, Tayntons Solicitors, Hartpury University and Hartpury College, Gloucester Brewery, Action Coach and SoGlos.
For the first event, Todd Gifford, managing director of county-based managed IT experts, Optimising IT, talks about the firm's journey to certified B Corp status and the benefits of doing so, as well as mentioning its chosen charity, Gloucestershire Young Carers. The event takes place between 4pm and 5.15pm and costs £15 plus VAT, but future events will be free.
