YOKU in Cheltenham

Cheltenham’s stylish Japanese restaurant YOKU at No. 131 serves some of the best fine dining cuisine in Gloucestershire - and the sensationally-crafted (and incredibly Instagramable) smoking sushi platters are some of its signature dishes. Choose the ebi ten signature roll for a lighter option or, if you're not in the mood for sushi, opt for the flash-fried Wagyu or bowl of ramen.  For a special occasion, the tasting menu - including a vegan option - is a great way to sample plenty of YOKU's dishes.

Kyuri Sushi in Stroud

The bustling food market at Five Valleys in Stroud is home to Kyuri Sushi, where chef-owner Bong Su Cha serves his fabulous sushi selections to take away or tuck into from the bar overlooking his small kitchen. Everything is made in-house, with the Japanese curry and Korean sweet and spicy chicken also proving popular.

KIBOU in Cheltenham

One of Cheltenham’s cool hotspots for Japanese cuisine and a former SGGLA Restaurant of the Year winner, not only does KIBOU Cheltenham have one of the most impressively-designed restaurant interiors in town, but it also serves an impressive sushi menu too – with a large variety of freshly rolled nigiri, hosomaki, sashimi, temaki and futomaki. Plus, don't miss KIBOU's Japanese afternoon tea.

Tiger's Eye in Gloucester

Gloucester’s 'first hot rock grill restaurant with an Asian twist’, Tiger’s Eye in the city centre serves a selection of Japanese dishes – including some of the best sushi in Gloucester, spanning crab dragon rolls to asparagus maki. It has an extensive cocktail menu and lively atmosphere.

Tonbo Japanese Kitchen in the Cotswolds

Tonbo Japanese Kitchen - a food truck that travels the Cotswolds, making regular stop-offs in Cirencester and Chipping Norton - serves a beautiful selection of freshly-made sushi, from eel nigiri to salmon and avocado inside-out maki. Tonbo's katsu burgers have garnered a cult-like following too!

Tomari-Gi in Stroud

From unagi sauce rainbow rolls, nagoya rolls to yellowtail tuna tataki, Tomari-Gi in Stroud town centre - opposite the Subscription Rooms - serves some fantastic sushi. Its ramen always proves popular, with a good selection of donburi too. Plus, it hosts yakitori nights for your Japanese barbecue fix.

Wakame in Cheltenham

Cheltenham’s High Street is home to the ladiback Japanese noodle bar Wakame. The casual atmosphere and vast menu includes great value sushi, with dishes such as octopus nigiri, spicy tekka maki and gourmet sushi boxes available to eat in or takeaway.

Pen Yen in Chipping Norton

Just over the Gloucestershire border in Chipping Norton, Soho Farmhouse’s luxurious Pen Yen sushi menu hosts a range of options for meat eaters and veggies alike – from plant-based shiitake and vegetable maki to extravagant snow crab and deep-fried prawn.

Waterside Kitchen & Bar in the Cotswolds

As the name suggests, Waterside Kitchen & Bar overlooks the Walters Lake at Cotswold Waterpark, with a dedicated sushi menu served on selected days of the week. As well as an impressive selection of hosomaki, temaki and nigiri to choose from, hot Japanese classics include yakisoba noodles, salt and pepper squid, and vegetable gyozas.
