SoGlos is celebrating its 19th anniversary this July 2026, marking almost two decades of independently reporting on and championing Gloucestershire.
Since launching in July 2007, SoGlos has grown to become the county's leading media brand, publishing nearly 16,000 articles which celebrate Gloucestershire lifestyle, business and community – including its inspiring people – during that time.
Founded by Gloucestershire born and bred media entrepreneurs, Michelle Fyrne and James Fyrne, SoGlos was created to provide a fresh, positive perspective on Gloucestershire, with a focus on quality journalism and engaging storytelling, while championing the county's economy.
Over the last 19 years, the business has evolved from a grassroots website into one of the UK's longest-running independent digital media brands, with a monthly reach of 2.7 million across online, newsletters and social, while remaining proudly independent and focused solely on Gloucestershire.
Alongside its daily coverage, SoGlos has launched a number of major initiatives that celebrate excellence across the county, including the Gloucestershire Business Awards and Gloucestershire Lifestyle & Community Awards, bringing together thousands of businesses, organisations and community champions each year.
Recent achievements include winning the prestigious 'Small Digital Publisher of the Year' accolade at the AOP Awards, being shortlisted for two categories in the forthcoming Future of Media Awards, and celebrating a milestone 1,000 editions of its Gloucestershire Lifestyle newsletter.
SoGlos's parent company, SoPublishing, has also continued to invest heavily in innovation, developing its own bespoke publishing platform to support both its editorial and commercial operations, while helping to future-proof the business.
CEO and co-founder Michelle Fyrne said: 'When we launched SoGlos back in 2007, we believed Gloucestershire deserved a media brand that reflected everything positive about the county we love. 19 years later, we're incredibly proud that SoGlos continues to grow thanks to the ongoing support of our readers, commercial partners and the wider Gloucestershire community.
'We're hugely grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey over the past 19 years. Every business we've worked with, every organisation we've featured, and every reader who chooses SoGlos has helped make this milestone possible. And particularly our passionate, Gloucestershire-based team.
'As we look ahead to our 20th anniversary next year, we're excited to continue investing in journalism, technology, and new ways of supporting Gloucestershire's businesses and communities.'
