A new 10,000 square foot restaurant and ‘flagship’ Dobbies Garden Centre, which will take pride of place at Robert Hitchins’ new Cotswolds Designer Outlet off the M5 at Tewkesbury is being constructed.

The Gloucestershire property developer said when complete in autumn 2022 the restaurant and 74,000 sq ft garden centre will be the largest in the south west, helping attract more than 750,000 customers annually to the site.

In total the 180-acre mixed-use outlet scheme, off Junction 9 of the M5 at Ashchurch, will include 16,000 square feet of café and restaurant space, as well as fashion, leisure, footwear and lifestyle brands expected to generate total sales of £88.6 million a year.

Graeme Jenkins, chief executive officer of Dobbies Garden Centres, said: ‘We are committed to delivering our growth strategy and this is an exciting milestone in our plans.’

Simon Tothill, property and development director of Robert Hitchins Ltd, said: ‘We are seeing very promising levels of interest from brands who are excited by the compelling prospects that Cotswolds Designer Outlet offers.’

The first phase of the retail development will deliver 75 units across 140,000 sq ft with the second phase adding 90 more units across 181,000 sq ft.

The outlet shopping destination is being built alongside hundreds of new homes and is expected to open its doors in autumn 2023.
